this is kind of a "dad joke" of a post, and i mean no disrespect, but do you think that mac scarce
was ever told by a coach to "make yourself scarce"? i mean, look at how overwhelmed he was in little league according to the topps cartoonist back then:is it possible, then, that mac instead heard the comment from his coach as "make yourself, scarce", and mac took that advice to heart and dedicated himself to his craft from then on? you can't argue with the results - he was a major league pitcher and can say that he struck out willie mays.
a couple of other items of note - what a tremendous full name he has, and i appreciate his effort to mimic the position graphic on the front of his card.
I hadn't seen that cartoon before, it's very cute.
ReplyDeletewell, it's not bill russell wearing a sombrero but, yes, it's cute.
DeleteNever noticed it until today... but that pitcher graphic on the front seems a little off. I look at it and the throwing arm seems exceptionally long... or the player has a tail. Sorry. I get easily distracted. Gotta be pretty cool to be able to tell your grandchildren you struck out Willie Mays.
ReplyDeletefuji, please allow me to introduce you to the long arm of bob welch:
