well, no surprise. there was no collective bargaining agreement reached by yesterday's deadline or today's extended deadline, so the start of the 2022 season is going to be delayed. i can't say i've been paying super close attention, but i did read some articles on mlb.com at the beginning of the lockout and they were so biased towards the league and owners that i realized there was no point in continuing to follow progress through that pipeline.
i am not sure how i feel - disappointed is probably the best description. part of that disappoint stems from the fact that the dodgers were (are?) supposed to show up in minnesota in april and now it seems possible that their trip will be canceled for the second time in three seasons.
maybe i feel a bit like randy wolf on this 2009 topps heritage chrome parallel:
that is, teetering a bit towards frustration and maybe even anger. you will notice that the chrome treatment of the card really brings out the early stages of randy wolf's bruce banner "hulk" eyes:rob manfred probably wouldn't like it too much when fans like me are angry, and i think disappointment will turn to anger pretty quickly.
at least card stuff continues - the wolf card here was part of a dodger dupe dump night owl laid on me. i'll have more from his mailing in another post. maybe by then there will be better baseball news!
I hate that baseball can't get it's act together and keeps doing stuff to turn off fans. I'm worried that someday, one of these messes will permanently wreck interest in the game and that it will stop being considered one of the major sports.
ReplyDeleteplenty of people do just fine without baseball in their lives, and every time there is a work stoppage, that number increases. i share your concern.
DeleteHear you about MLB.com. Once checked their CBA FAQ, and quickly got off in disgust. Propaganda.
ReplyDeleteNot paying too much attention to all that junk, to be honest.
propaganda - yes. i should have used that word to describe it. i think most fans see through the bs.
DeleteSure hope they figure things out, so you can get to one of those Dodgers games out in Minnesota... and the rest of us can start rooting for our teams again.
ReplyDeletethe dodgers are part of the fourth series of the season, so it's getting close to being impacted.
DeleteManfred is human garbage. I hate it.
ReplyDeletecertainly not a steward of the game that guy.
