the inclusion of steve garvey in 2021 product continued with topps' clearly authentic release. seeing the garv on a 1986 design as a dodger was a bit weird, but i got used to it real quick:
so quick, in fact, that i didn't stop with his base card. i picked up the green parallel /99the black parallel /75
the red parallel /50
and the blue parallel /25
there is also a purple parallel /10, an orange parallel /5, and a gold 1/1 parallel. no luck on any of those (so far). i have no idea what percentage of the time garvey adds his number "6" below his signature, but only one of these (the green one) has it. in the past, i would treat those as a variation and chase both types of signatures, but not anymore. i'm content with one of each for this pursuit. maybe two of each if i want to feed the dodger collection, but that's not a priority when it comes to garvey autos.
Good for you. I know you have brought a bigger game for Garvey stuff lately, than in the more recent past. Likewise, I am pulling back my game in that same time frame. Normally that might be good for you, but the Garvey market is still feeling some sort of bizarro increase out of nowhere. I have only been able to win the Green version. I went hard after the gold, but someone I didn't even recognize (I think) won it. Have lost out on the Purple a couple times too. Have not seen the /5. It is one of the better Garvey auto cards lately. i wonder if these will yellow like a lot of the acetate type cards have done from the 90s/00s? I hope they solved it, whatever was making it happen.
ReplyDeletei have certainly targeted certain issues lately, with this being one. i am content with the cards i have - maybe will take a run at another purple if it shows up.
DeleteVery nice looking cards. I'm a bit jealous, even not being a real Garvey guy.
ReplyDeletethese are pretty sharp, and there is a decent checklist of players to choose from - i just happen to prefer garvey!
DeleteThese look really expensive!
ReplyDeletethey are definitely not discounted due to how they are sold on the initial market.
