there aren't too many cards showing rickey henderson as a member of the dodgers, but his popularity has remained high and so many of the cards that do exist are hard to come by at reasonable prices. this is particularly applicable to parallels, so i was really happy to find one of his 2003 topps traded gold parallels
for sale not too long ago. rickey didn't get a card from topps in 2004, so the back of this cardis as close as they got to a final tribute. thankfully, upper deck came through with a couple of 2004 cards of the "greatest of all-time".
the lot that i bought that included the gold parallel also featured a signed 1987 topps card
that looks decent enough. i kept this card and put it with my other ttm/in-person/non-certified autos. i will often add cards of rickey when going through bargain boxes or to fill out sportlots orders - i just wish there were more dodger cards to add!

Nice card.. love late-career Rickeys. Sweet bonus auto too.
ReplyDeletethanks gavin! rickey has some great cards from his a's days, but i like seeing some of the more random teams he played with represented on cardboard.
DeleteI'm not sure where it is, but I know I have at least one insert of Rickey as a Dodger. I have no attachment to it, so I guess it might be worth looking for, and then seeing if you need it or not.
ReplyDeletethanks jon! i am much obliged if you do find it but don't sweat it.
