at least the hat is blue

so. much. gray.
that's fred mcgriff's 2003 topps gallery card. it's an obvious conversion from a cubs uniform to a dodger one, with the most egregious error being the coloring of mcgriff's number on the back of the jersey being red. the cubs did that on their blue alternates and away gray jerseys, but not the dodgers. mcgriff was known to wear blue sleeves under the cub blue jerseys on occasion, but i've never seen a photo of him with this gray under gray look.

here he is in dodger gray with blue sleeves,
courtesy of a 2004 donruss timeless treasures card. that looks right.

  2. That's almost as bad as the 2020 Topps Decades' Best #DB-24.

    1. yeah that was bad, too. i see with update this year that topps is going the panini route and coloring the numbers on the front of the jerseys blue. good grief.

  3. I just bought a pretty big McGriff the other night, although he's a Padre on the card, so it probably won't go over to well on the blog.

    1. i guess i probably think of him as a brave first, but his padre tenure is a close second. or maybe third. still, show the pretty big card!
