here's my 2020 topps stadium club blaster

i bought a blaster of 2020 topps stadium club online, and paid about what i would have paid at target or walmart if i were able to find a box. i previously skipped on a blaster of 2020 topps chrome due to price gouging, but this was priced reasonably - perhaps a robin hood approach by the seller.  at any rate, it showed up on friday and i opened it up while watching the dodgers beat the rockies. good times.  here's what i found.

each pack had 5 cards, with the 4th card in each being an insert or parallel.

first pack:

robinson cano
one for the double play collection!

tyler glasnow
jake rogers
ronald acuna jr - bash & burn
that was the bash, now here's the burn
topps has done this before - in fact, here's a raul mondesi card from 1996 that i had scanned and ready to go for this post

he bashes and he burns

keston hiura
not a bad pack to start

second pack:

miguel sano
target field is purty

will clark
giving me studio/1983 fleer steve garvey/rick rhoden vibes

kerry wood
lorenzo cain - black foil parallel
barry larkin
third pack:

bryan reynolds
felix hernandez
walker buehler
surprisingly, not a photo variation although buehler does have one in the set

shoehei ohtani - emporers of the zone
seth brown
fourth pack:

andrew mccutchen
sandy koufax
also surprisingly not a photo variation, although koufax does have one in the set. this was the dodger base card i most wanted, and it's a front runner for favorite dodger card of the year

josh rojas
noah syndergaard - red foil parallel
jorge soler
fifth pack:

eduardo escobar
gio urshela
mike trout
rafael devers - sepia parallel
ryne sandberg
ryno goes in the double play collection, too!

sixth pack:

tommy lastella
b2b double plays!

zac gallen
adalberto mondesi
sadly, he is not in the bash & burn insert set

cal ripken jr - red foil parallel
that was quite a night for baseball.

abraham toro
seventh pack:

david ortiz
matthew boyd
jesus luzardo - in the wings insert red foil parallel
topps goes off script with an insert parallel in the third slot!

rhys hoskins - power zone
kyle hendricks
eighth pack:

john means
aaron civale
jake fraley
brusdar graterol - red foil parallel
carl yastrzemski
when i first opened the pack, i saw the yaz surname and assumed it was mike. i temporarily forgot that it is possible to find new carl yastrzemski cards in modern packs.

widevision boxtopper pack:

kris bryant
so, 41 cards in all.  let's see how I did against the odds.

red foil base parallel 1:4 packs - 3 cards; beat the odds!
black foil base parallel 1:8 packs - 1 card; met the odds
sepia base parallel 1:8 packs - 1 card; met the odds
bash & burn insert 1:8 packs - 1 card; met the odds
emporers of the zone insert 1:8 packs - 1 card; met the odds
power zone insert 1:8 packs - 1 card; met the odds
in the wings insert red foil parallel 1:193 packs; beat the odds!

that luzardo was not a bad pull.

as always, stadium club delivers on the photography front. i'll have another post of a different approach to a stadium club blaster in a week or so.

stay tuned.

  1. If you're willing, I'd like to trade for the Boyd and Rogers cards. Thanks.

  2. I'm planning on having a Stadium Club post up soon. Koufax is probably my frontrunner for Card of the Year at this point.

  3. This is the first card of King Felix as a Brave that I've seen. I thought that it might be kind of weird when I finally did see one, turns out it wasn't, and this one is a pretty good looking card too.

And kudos to Topps for using that Koufax photo, I suspect that that's going to be a very popular card.

  4. These are fantastic cards! So many nice action shots and I love the Bryant box topper. I just wish Topps could have done better for Rafael Devers.

  5. A. Congratulations on adding a new double play card (as well as finding an affordable blaster).

    B. Seeing the Buehler and Koufax cards definitely has me interested in tracking down either specific singles or the entire base set.

    C. Is Yaz just tiny or is the catcher a beast?

  6. Noty bad. I don't really like the team color bars much, feels like it takes away from the Stadium Club feel to me. But its not horrible either. Like everyone else, the Koufax is sweet.

  7. That Cano is gorgeous. Definitely going in the Coors Field Frankenset.

It's a relic of long ago times, Jeff Hoffman on the basepaths.
