the almost daily dodger - max muncy

today i've got max muncy lined up with his 2019 topps 582 montgomery card

it's from set number 1 and is touted as a topps "lost design". i suppose it is reminiscent of the 1964 topps design, so not sure how lost it actually is. the card features an image of muncy from game 5 of the 2019 nlds, so this card must have been issued very late in the 2019 calendar year.

muncy was playing second base a lot back then, including in this photo, but he hasn't spent anytime at the position since 2022. and, with mookie betts looking to spend more time in the infield in 2024, i suspect muncy will stick at third base for the next two seasons until his contract expires. he seems healed from his elbow injury suffered at the end of the 2021 season, and i hope he continues to show improvement at the plate in 2024.
