the almost daily dodger - corey seager

keeping my space in the blogosphere tonight is corey seager, on a 2017 topps bunt "perspectives" insert
when last we saw seager, he was raising his second world series mvp award, although this time it was as a member of the texas rangers. there is no doubt that the rangers bought their championship just like the dodgers have tried to buy them since 2012 and the yankees had done for more than a decade before that. i have no qualms with the efforts of those, or any, front offices. mostly because it usually doesn't work. that's my perspective.

i do want to give credit to bob watson for at least the first yankee title of the 90's. that was pretty much his team even though brian cashman was made the general manager prior to the start of the season. and it didn't include the "throw money at a bunch of players and see what sticks" approach that has been applied by the aforementioned teams so often since.

and the rangers did throw a bunch of money around, and some of those targets didn't pan out. jacob degrom missed most of the season, and max scherzer was ineffective. same with jordan montgomery. but, when you have nathan eovaldi and bats like seager and marcus semien to support you, good things can still happen in short spurts of time.

  1. Don't normally root for Texas teams... but it was nice to see them win their first World Series title. I was especially happy for Seager... and Bochy.
