it's time to compare dodgers to dodgers

with series 2 out, i've decided to once again compare the dodger cards from flagship to their factory team set counterparts. this is something i've done for most of the dodger sets from 2006 on (not in real-time, of course), but not since the 2016 set, and it will be the first full comparison since 2015. if you are interested, i'll link to the previous posts at the end of this post. even if you are not, the links will be there more for me to find in the future.  flagship cards will be on the left, with the factory set cards on the right. ready? here we go!

cody bellinger

clayton kershaw

corey seager

justin turner

walker buehler

max muncy

joc pederson

gavin lux

will smith

kenta maeda

kenley jansen

aj pollock

enrique hernandez
good lord. of all the cards in the set to change, topps chose the only flagship card with any personality.

alex verdugo

dodger stadium
there is no comparative card in flagship for the team set dodger stadium card, but there is in opening day:
same photo, different crop.

here's the back of the team set card, with some info about the 2019 team and a reminder about the 2020 all-star game

so there you have it.

i also purchased the national league stars factory team set which included a couple of dodgers - bellinger
and kershaw
nice to see different photos used for those cards.

as promised, here are links to the comparisons for previous year's sets.

i may go back and fill in the missing blanks to appease my inner completist.

  1. Didn't they used to have an NL logo on the NL stars set? I guess they're trying to make it so you'll never recognize the card at a show or shop so you'll have to buy the set.

  2. That Dodger Stadium card is cool. It's a shame that they didn't include one for every team. I bought the A's team set, but it didn't have a Coliseum card.

  3. You got me collecting those team blister packs, been buying 2 per year for a while. I have all but 2006. I can't find a sealed set to save my life. If you happen to come across one (or two), please let me know.
