the almost daily dodger - eric davis

eric the red became eric the dodger prior to the 1992 season, and his topps traded gold parallel card from that year was the final card i needed to complete my team set.
bringing this card into the fold means i've now completed the 1992 topps, 1992 topps winner, 1992 topps traded, 1993 topps, and 1994 topps gold parallel dodger team sets. so, all the non-serial numbered sets. i'm working on finishing at least one serial numbered gold team set (2007) but still have a few cards to track down.

as for davis, the high expectations that my fellow dodger fans and i had for him and the team in 1992 were not met. the dodgers gave up tim belcher and john wetteland for davis, and then he struggled and also missed a fair amount of time in '92 as the dodgers completed their worst season in franchise history. the dodger re-signed davis as a free agent anyway, but the results were pretty much the same and they wound up dealing him to detroit during the 1993 campaign. you can't always go home again, i guess.

  3. I remember him with the Dodgers and Giants too. But the baseball fan in me... wants to only focus on those years with Cincinnati.
