gettin' clearly wit it

as i write this on september 9th, will smith has a hr:ab ratio of 1:11 over his career. that's pretty good, as mark mcgwire is the only one with a smaller ratio over the course of a career, 3000 at bats minimum.  smith has a long way to go to get to 3000 at bats, and it would be shocking if he maintained this pace. still, it's something.

back when 2020 topps big league was released, mrmopar mentioned that he had picked up a smith autograph for a reasonable price. i decided that that was a good idea, and so i went looking for another one of my own.

i settled on a 2020 topps clearly authentic card of the fresh prince of chavez ravine
looks nice with the blue ink.

it will be interesting to see what the dodgers do with their catcher position, given they have smith and austin barnes, plus keibert ruiz (who at one time had a 1:1 hr to at bat ratio in the majors) nearly ready, and diego cartaya two or three years out. it's a nice problem to have.
