i bought back a buyback

2020 topps heritage brings with it another opportunity to add some cards of two of the members of the dodger infield of my youth to my collection. once again, buybacks are in the mix, and with steve garvey's rookie card coming from the 1971 topps set, that means that he joins bill russell (whose rookie card was bought back and stamped last year) on the checklist.  in theory, anyway.  i've not seen any garvey cards come up for sale, but i did snag the first russell i saw.
next year, ron cey has a chance to make an appearance, but all three infielders have high numbered cards, so any buybacks will likely be scarce. i'll keep an eye out anyway.

viva la infield!

  1. Do you know if they've even done a Garvey RC buyback?

    1. No. The earliest garvey buyback I've seen is his 1973 card. I have that one from the 2015 buybacks.

  2. That Garvey is going to be a hot commodity. You won't be competing with just Dodger fans. I'm sure a high percentage of collectors who collected back in the 80s would love to add a buyback stamped Garvey rookie card to their collection.
