i finished what i started, so why not start something else

new year's day is a good day to start something new, but before i get to that i would like to formally announce that i have finally completed the 2008 upper deck timeline set!
joey votto there was the last card i needed, and i pulled the trigger on his short printed rookie card as part of my obligatory comc black friday purchase. i actually purchased the card sometime between july and november, but waited until the shipping was free to get the card.

so, with that endeavor completed, i figured i would do something i haven't done since 2009, which is complete an allen & ginter insert set.  i completed my only base a&g set in 2008, and when 2009 rolled around, i decided to chase the national pride insert set.  it was easier than the base set which didn't really inspire me.  this past year, i took a fancy to the numbers game inserts (being a numbers guy, you know), and so i'll give it a shot.

here's kershaw's card from the set
the back properly identifies johnny podres as one of the former dodgers to have worn 22, but i'm pretty sure kershaw will be the last.  want list is up - please help a blogger out if you can!

happy new year!

  1. Congrats on the Timeline completion. I gave up on that one because it was such a stinker and started trading off the cards.

  2. I'm a big fan of the Ginter insert sets... especially the non-sports ones. Best of luck on this set. I'll take a look and see if I have any you need for your set.
