you may not recall, but for a short time during the 2010 season, there was something called "elymania" thanks to the pitching performance of dodger rookie john ely. here's his 2010 topps chrome blue refractor parallel

in his six starts between may 6 and june 1 that year, ely went 3-1 with a 1.80 era, and the two games that he had no decision in resulted in dodger wins, including one that featured ely throwing seven shutout innings.

after that, however, things unraveled and ely wound up 4-10 on the year with only three quality starts following his strong run in late spring. he made a handful of appearances for the dodgers in 2011 and 2012 but never rediscovered the magic of that six start stretch. still, for a month or so in 2010 every dodger fan was feeling a bit of elymania.
