ride the enrique rainbow!

back in 2011, i was all in on completing the topps update dee gordon rainbow. in 2012, it was ted lilly and then adam kennedy in update, and in 2013 nick punto's update card got the treatment. i made a half-hearted attempt at justin turner's 2014 update card, and then went dormant in any rainbow attempts until last year. i had pretty good success with the 2019 topps dodger stadium card, with one card in comc shipping limbo at the moment.

this year, as soon as i saw kiké hernandez's flagship card,
i decided to chase the rainbow.

this year, it seems like there are more parallels than ever when you consider that we haven't yet arrived at the factory set stage of the release calendar.  i decided to limit myself to just the foil and color parallels - no need for vintage stock or advanced stats here.  let's see what they look like.

rainbow foil
gold foil
meijer purple
walgreen's yellow
gold #/2020
independence day #/76
black #/60
father's day blue #/50
mother's day pink #/50
memorial day camo #/25
so that's 10 parallels, which means i have a full page of parallels in my 2020 dodger binder that looks something like this:
cool. the camo card is by itself on the next page.

i created a gif in photoshop, but have had some problems getting it added to this post.  if this doesn't work, let me know if you have any tips.

kick on, kiké!

  1. Congratulations! This looks so good, I might have to look into building the Ramon Laureano rainbow.

  3. Very cool! The Kike is definitely one of my favorite cards of 2020 so far. I've tried to build rainbows a couple times but my heart's never really been in it.
