last week i found myself in northern minnesota driving past a walgreen's. i did not expect to find any 2020 topps, as there is a local card shop nearby (as in really close), and my assumption was that they would have sought out those yellow parallels long before i got around to doing so at this location. still, i was in a card acquiring mood, and figured i could pick up a repack if nothing else.
lo and behold, there was a single hanger box on the rack in the 'toys and games' aisle. i wasn't sure what to think, because nowhere on the box did it mention exclusive yellow cards, and i had assumed that the packaging would have been more like the old toys 'r us model, with individual packs and the parallel cards tucked in behind.
i bought the box regardless, of course, and opened it in the parking lot. i shuffled the cards enough to confirm the existence of the yellow parallels, seeing this guy in the process:
that's not too bad, assuming aquino maintains his monster pace.
back to the base cards, the top half was all collation that i had seen before. i swear i had purchased the exact same hanger box at a twin cities target. i was feeling pretty annoyed until i made it back to the yellow cards and found this:
kiké!
how serendipitous! busting a pack and finding a parallel of the one card i wanted most is always a great feeling. the enrique rainbow is officially under construction! i've no plans to wade in to wisconsin, however, so i'll have to find the meijer purple parallel online.
Congrat on pulling a yellow Kiké and the yellow Aquino, too!
ReplyDeleteSerendipitous, indeed! Well done!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, one of the best things that can happen when you open pack is hitting a p.c. parallel for sure!
ReplyDeleteCan't say I've pulled the one card I wanted the most out of a pack too often. Congratulations!
