the almost daily dodger - john tudor

it's been a bit since i've had to dip into the scanned folder for one of these posts, but that's ok! today we have short-time dodger john tudor and his 1989 topps sticker, where he is paired with future dodger john candelaria

tudor's 1989 issues that show him as a dodger feature some night game photography which could come from any of his five home starts he made for the dodgers after joining the club late in the 1988 season. he also started a game in each of the nlcs and world series that fall, but both were on the road.

after a decent start to his dodger career in 1988, tudor began 1989 on the disabled list. he only managed a few appearances during the season, with his last game as a dodger coming on september 20, 1989 when he followed two other dodger relievers in the 9th inning against the giants at candlestick. none of the three managed to retire any of the seven batters they faced as the giants overcame a 7-3 deficit to win 8-7. tudor gave up the walk off hit to the only batter he faced - future dodger brett butler.

  1. That was a long time ago... so there's no way I remember that walk off at Candlestick. But I'm sure I was still sad (and sour about the Dodgers taking down the A's the year before, so I was probably rooting for the Giants that night.
