here's an appropriate card for today:
that's a doubly green card! it's a 2005 topps rookie cup shawn green green parallel.while i'm at it, here's another green card that i've not shown before.
that's from 2001 topps gold label, and it has the 2000 dodger stadium murals in the background. that year, the dodgers used a newspaper headline font to acknowledge great moments in dodger stadium history. the headline behind green was near the visitor's bullpen in right field, and reads "dodgers honor lasorda" in recognition of his uniform retirement ceremony held in 1997. steve garvey was featured a couple of murals over in right-center with his 1000th consecutive game played being the moment recognized. sure do miss those murals.
You have quite the eye. No idea how you figured out the Lasorda sign in the background... but that's pretty darn cool.
ReplyDeletei had to review images of the murals online - most likely getty images - to identify this one.
DeleteThey don't come any greener than that!
ReplyDeletemaybe if he were a florida marlin there might be more green
DeleteI am actually a little jealous. I was looking for a Shawn Green #'d card for my "Green Week" PWE trade post. Of course I was also looking for Grant Green, Khalil Greene, Shane Greene, and even Mike Greenwell and had nothing of any of them. Oh well, them's the breaks.
ReplyDeleteGreen with envy?
